The Kia Soul is a front-engine, front-wheel-drive subcompact crossover SUV (compact crossover SUV in its 1st generation) manufactured and marketed by Kia since 2009. Its 1st generation is classified as a compact crossover SUV while its 2nd generation is classified as a subcompact crossover SUV. Designed at Kia's design center in California and now is in its second generation, the Soul debuted at the 2008 Paris Motor Show and is manufactured in South Korea. ==First generation (2008–2013)== The Soul concept was designed by Mike Torpey and had rear-hinged doors, who in early 2005 as a new member of Kia's Design Team in Irvine, California, was sent to KIA Korea to brainstorm a new vehicle. After seeing a television documentary on wild boars, Torpey "sketched a caricature of (a boar) and, for practicality, put a backpack on it." This idea inspired the Soul's combination of a sloping roof line with an overall rectangular shape. The New York Times reported "the boar’s attitude of strength and capability — it can’t be taken advantage of despite its relatively small size — was exactly the image () wanted for a new model aimed at hip urban youths." After joining Kia as the new KIA Corporte Design Chief, Peter Schreyer revised the Soul Concept to include the signature corporate grille, known as the Tiger Nose. According to the Automotive news, the Soul has been criticized for a plasticky interior and a harsh ride.〔The Soul has been criticized for a plasticky interior and a harsh ride on less-than-perfect surfaces ()〕 Both the ride quality and interior were addressed by KIA and upgraded during the first year's production. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Kia Soul」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
